Vietnam - Construction of a wind power plant in the southern province of Ninh Thuan planned
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has assigned the state-run Vietnam Electricity Group, or EVN, to prepare a plan for the construction of a wind power plant in the southern province of Ninh Thuan, the government said Wednesday. The government said in a statement that it will use official development aid provided by the Danish government to fund the project, though it didn't specify the capacity or the investment needed for the project. The plan is to be submitted to the prime minister for approval before May, it said.
With a coastline stretching more than 3,000 kilometers, 8.6% of Vietnam's total land area can be used to generate wind power, the government said. Local private and foreign-invested companies are already developing wind power plants with capacities of between 6 and 150 megawatts in the country, it added.
