News Release from Nordex SE
Wind Industry Profile of
Starting with record figures an new customers into the second quarter
Nordex SE continued to build on the success of the first quarter 2015 in April and May. In these two months the wind turbine manufacturer signed 17 orders with a total capacity of more than 150 MW in its home market. Nearly all the customers decided in favour of the tried and tested light-wind N117/2400 turbine with is particularly high level of efficiency at inland sites.
VR Bank Flensburg-Schleswig eG invested in ten turbines of this type. The wind farm where these machines are to be installed lies in Thurnau, Franconia, at the northern edge of Franconian Switzerland. The region between Bayreuth and Kulmbach is characterised by light wind speed, making the site an ideal for the N117/2400.
"We invested in the wind farm because we see this as a sustainable investment,” says VR Bank board member Michael Möller. “As a cooperative bank we always have an eye on the overall social impact and are very aware of our responsibility. Investing in green electricity seems to us to be both promising and profitable as well as showing our sense of responsibility towards the coming generations."
"We are pleased to have acquired VR Bank as a new customer," says Siegbert Pump, Nordex Head of Sales for Germany. "We already know banks as partners in our project financing. But VR Bank is the first one we have been able to supply as a long-term operator of a wind farm. It is nice to see that banks are now investing in power plants with a view to meeting their return targets. For us this opens up new opportunities."
The other orders also included projects for new customers, for example Trianel GmbH, a municipal utility association from Aachen, or Thüga neue Energien from Hamburg. On the other hand, Naturstrom Anlagen GmbH in Bavaria has already placed numerous orders with the manufacturer: in Titting, Upper Bavaria, Nordex is building the third project for this long-standing customer while at the same time consolidating its market position in the state of Bavaria, where the company has a market share of around 30 percent. Nordex has now opened up a regional centre in Würzburg with several service points in order to handle local business more efficiently and better fulfil service contracts with terms of up to 15 years.
In the first quarter of this year Nordex SE's order intake in Germany amounted to nearly 157 MW, representing a further increase its peak figure of the first quarter 2014.
