Cast off for the 1st Baltic Future

On the occasion of its premiere the Trade Fair Baltic Future offers an elaborate programme and a B2B-Matchmaking Event

Rostock/Berlin, 2008. On November 18, 2008 sails will be set in Rostock for the new international trade fair Baltic Future. For three days, i.e. from November 18 to 20, the Baltic Future will provide information about technological innovations in the field of the maritime industry. A comprehensive programme will complement the exhibition. The Baltic Future focuses on the branches of the shipbuilding supply industry, offshore-wind power and logistics.

The maritime location of the fair site Rostock directly at the Baltic Sea as a hub for Western and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic States is predestined for trade fairs of an international nature. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the three core themes of the Baltic Future, with transport logistics in particular, have attracted wide interest. The entire maritime sector in general has developed into one of the booming industries in this federal state. According to Economy Minister Jürgen Seidel especially the ship- and boat building industry, but also the maritime supply industry and service providers with a total of 12.600 employees has become the job-creation machine of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The maritime core area has achieved an annual turnover of 2.3 billion Euro.

On an exhibition space of approx. 4.000 m² the Baltic Future is the dynamic meeting place for 57 companies and institutions, among them exhibitors from Great Britain, Denmark and the Netherlands. The nomenclature also comprises businesses and institutions related to ship- and boat building and equipment, technology, electronics, logistics, offshore-wind power, consultancy and science. Among the exhibitors there are companies such as NORDEX AG, Schenker Deutschland AG, Blohm + Voss Industries GmbH and Airport Rostock-Laage. Further exhibiting companies are LERBS AG, DMR Kloska-Technik GmbH and EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG.. Presenting institutions are, for example, the Association for Port Economy M-V e.V., MAZA-MV e.V., the Society for Economic and Technological Promotion Rostock mbH, the DLR German Centre for Aeronautics and Space and the Faculty of Marine Technology at the University of Rostock.

The fair particularly appeals to professional visitors such as decision makers, sales managers and purchasers of ship yards, shipping companies and marine- and offshore businesses. Further target groups are ship owners, boat builders as well as experts of science and consultancy institutions. Experts and exhibitors will not only get information and witness interesting presentations but will also profit from a first-rate programme that stands for pronounced professionalism: The three day programme held at the conference rotunda and at the lecture forum in the exhibition hall comprises symposia, workshops and a business matchmaking event.
