Falck Renewables places order for 25-megawatt project in Scotland

Nordex has received the 15th order from its key account, Falck Renewables. The manufacturer will supply ten N90/2500 turbines for the Assel Valley wind farm near the south-west coast of Scotland. The supply schedule includes the turnkey construction of the wind farm, including the civil and electrical infrastructure works. Falck Renewables is an international  project developer, which has now shown its confidence in Nordex as a partner for the 15th time. Ten of the joint projects are situated in the UK the total capacity now contracted in the UK on a turnkey basis for Falck Renewables has increased to more than 260 megawatts. Other projects already implemented from the partnership with this developer are located in Italy and France.

The Assel Valley wind farm is located to the south-east of Girvan in South Ayrshire. The average wind speed at this site is around 9 m/s, corresponding to wind class IEC-1. The N90/2500 is a strong-wind turbine, especially designed for such conditions. In order to ensure that the turbines do not exceed the permissible tip height, Nordex is installing them on 65-metre towers, which the company has developed especially for the UK wind market.  Even with the lower tip height of 110 metres, this tough turbine with a rotor blade length of 45 metres and a rotor sweep of 6,362 square metres obtains exceptional yields.

Nordex has already started construction work on the Assel Valley wind farm, which is due to be handed over to the customer in October 2016. Following commissioning, Nordex will be in charge of servicing the turbines and associated works for at least five years on the basis of a Premium service contract.
