Wind Industry Profile of

This week: Interview with Dr. Hans-Peter Waldl and Dipl.-Phys. Thomas Pahlke, Managing Directors of Overspeed GmbH & Co. KG

Windfair: Is the wind energy industry a priority for your company? How so?

Dr. Waldl: At Overspeed, everthing revolves around wind energy and wind energy economics as our consulting and pioneering products and procedures have been successfull in this branch for more than 20 years.

Windfair: How many people does your company employ?

Dipl.-Phys. Pahlke: Currently we employ fifteen highly qualified people mainly from technical occupations, information technology and management.

Windfair: How many are dedicated to wind energy?

Dr. Waldl: Everyone, meaning they come from the areas of physics, software development, management, controlling and marketing and have worked for years in wind energy sector projects.

Windfair: Do you have any new or upcoming wind energy products or services?

Dipl.-Phys. Pahlke: We are constantly developing innovative wind energy solutions. The novel wind power forecasting platform Anemos makes wind power forecasts available to grid operators and managers of larger wind farm portfolios for different time horizons, resolutions and frequencies. On the other hand, our experience in the areas of consulting, project reviews, detail optimisation and project development allows us to provide support and management in offshore wind farm development.

Windfair: Do you have any special training programs for your employees? Do you offer expert training programmes?

Dr. Waldl: Yes, Overspeed offers individually tailored seminars on all wind energy topics and further develops its learning programs to reflect the state-of-the-art. Together with ForWind, we are founders of the ForWind Academy and are actively engaged in the continuing studies Programme Wind Energy Technology and Management and the Postgraduate Programme Renewable Energies (PPRE) at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg.

Windfair: Tell us about your future developments. What can we expect in the next year or two?

Dipl.-Phys. Pahlke: As Overspeed is primarily concerned with the management of "challenging" sites, we look forward to tomorrow's offshore wind energy market where we can provide our customers with specialized know-how. As experts and consultants, developers and service providers, we are in action in many markets around the world. Furthermore, the area of wind power forecasting will play an increasingly important role in the future energy mix consisting of large contributions from wind and solar power.
