Sweden - Gamesa wins third Swedish wind turbines order in four months

Spanish wind energy developer Gamesa has been contracted to supply wind turbines with a combined capacity of 14MW for a wind farm in Sweden, which is the third wind power deal the company has signed in country

First orders for the G9X- 2.0 MW wind turbines (20 MW) for two Swedish wind farm plants from Triventus and Spanish Power. Wind energy Gamesa makes three new wind power contracts in Sweden.

Gamesa will also supply 1.7 MW (two G58-850 kW wind turbines) to Eolus Vind AB, one of Sweden’s leading wind power developers. Gamesa, world leader in the design, manufacture and maintenance of wind turbines, continues to make inroads into the Scandinavian market, one of the company's core target markets, having signed three contracts in Sweden, two of which with new customers, over the past four months.

The company is to supply 14 MW of wind turbines to Triventus for installation at the Dal and Fåleberg wind farms being developed by this Scandinavian firm in southern Sweden. Gamesa will install the first G9X-2.0 MW platform turbines under this agreement in November 2011. The company has also been hired to handle the transportation work and the start-up of the wind farms, which it will maintain for two years.

Gamesa has also signed agreements with two new customers: the first for the supply of 6 MW (three G9X-2.0 MW turbines) to the Lingbo facility being developed by Spanish Power through its subsidiary Spawer Kraft AB; and the second for the supply of 1.7 MW (two G58-850 kW turbines) to Eolus Vind AB, one of Sweden's top wind energy developers, having installed over 300 turbines to date. Delivery and commissioning of the wind turbines under both these contracts is slated for the fourth quarter of 2011.

First wind farm in Sweden installed during coldest winter in 100 years

In February 2011 Gamesa concluded the supply, installation and start-up of its first wind farm in Sweden, comprising six G58 - 850 kW turbines, for wind power developer and consultant Triventus. The facility was assembled in just two months during the coldest winter on record in Sweden in 100 years. The fact that the turbines were all spread far apart from each other meant logistics planning and task and team coordination was crucial and complex.

Sweden is a key market for Gamesa. The company is going to showcase its wind platforms (G10X-4.5 MW, G9X-2.0 MW and G5X-850 kW) at the upcoming Swedish sector trade fair, Vind 2011, in Stockholm on 14 and 15 September.
