SSP Technology A/S: SSP Technology receives large order from Asian wind turbine manufacturer

SSP Technology A/S has signed two contracts with an Asian wind turbine manufacturer for blade design and production of blade moulds. The contracts, both of which have been signed with this customer within the last couple of months, are milestones for SSP

Stenstrup, 09.08.2011. The contracts are very much in line with SSP Technology’s aim to support and lead the development of future blade technologies and to present the most qualified response to current design challenges. At the same time, the agreements offer the Danish blade enabler a chance to engage with the really big players of the industry.

SSP Technology’s CEO, Søren Brouer, sees these orders as a turning point for the company but also as yet another acknowledgement of Danish wind technology in general.

“That a small company like SSP Technology is able to compete with the large international players in the industry and win an order of this size, shows that the unique knowledge and technology that Danish companies possess is still valuable despite the increasing focus on prices and delivery time. We are very proud that we with these orders once again drive home the fact that our unique knowledge and technologies in blade production plays a valuable part of the development in the industry,” says Søren Brouer.

Both contracts are made up of two main parts, the first one being a design agreement for design of the blade. The design specification for the blade has been under thorough review and testing in close cooperation with the customer.

The second part of the contracts is a production agreement for production of the blade moulds as well as the first prototype blades for testing. Because of the length of the blades and the complexity of the projects, the moulds will, contrary to normal practice, be produced in more than one piece. The moulds as well as the prototype blades will be produced in Denmark and afterwards shipped to the customer.

While being an important milestone for SSP Technology, the signing of the contracts also means that the Danish company needs to increase the number of employees over the next couple of months.
