Denmark - José Manuel Barroso visits wind energy Vestas
President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, will visit the Vestas Technology headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark on the 15th of April 2011. He is visiting the Danish city in connection with the European University Association’s 10th anniversary, to be held at Aarhus University and focusing on “Investing Today in Talent for Tomorrow.”
“We are very pleased that Mr. Barroso has extended his visit to Aarhus so that we can show and tell about the potential of our industry. Today, wind power is mainstream and a key driver in responding to energy and climate challenges, and could create thousands more jobs, provided we receive the right political back up. Wind energy is a European lead tech industry, which will require a big commitment on financing as well as regulation, with long term planning and investments in grid infrastructure,” Ditlev Engel, CEO of Vestas explains.
José Manuel Barroso will be visiting Vestas together with:
- Lykke Friis - Danish Minister for Climate & Energy
- Charlotte Sahl Madsen - Danish Minister for Science and Technology
- Nicolai Wammen - Mayor of the City of Aarhus
- Bent Hansen - President of the Central Denmark Region
- Michael Christiansen - ChairmanAarhusUniversity
- Lauritz B. Holm-Nielsen - DeanAarhusUniversity
- Jean-Marc Rapp -President, European University Association
