Pakistan - Canadian and Chinese to set up a wind energy project

A foreign consortium of Canadian and Chinese companies, Bradford Power Limited, is ready to set up a wind power project with an output capacity of 200 MW in Pakistan with an investment of $500 million

A foreign consortium of Canadian and Chinese companies, Bradford Power Limited, is ready to set up a wind power project with an output capacity of 200 MW in Pakistan with an investment of $500 million.

This was stated by Rafid E Louis, a representative of Bradford Power during a meeting with the Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf. The delegation called on the minister on Monday .

Louis informed the minister that Bradford Power is a special purpose company established as an independent power producer and added that the wind farm project will be completed in two years in Sindh.

Bradford Power would also look forward to different investment mechanisms in conventional and unconventional energy resources in Pakistan, he said.

However, their current focus is on wind energy projects for which they have already committed financing and have deployed all their energies, said Louis.

The minister said that the consortium’s expertise in the renewable energy sector indicates that they are competent enough to execute wind power projects.

The minister assured the delegation that they will be assisted at every level for realising their planned wind turbines projects in Pakistan.

The consortium consists of A-Power, a Chinese company and Monteva, a Candian company. They have installed over 50 power plants, including wind energy and solar power projects in China, Canada and the United States.
