China - Anhui First Wind Farm
Anhui's first wind farm will be built in Lai'an County, with a planning capacity of 247.5 megawatts.
All preparation ready, the wind power project now waits for the reply from Provincial Environment Protection Bureau to kick off. Its main construction is expected to start early next month.
Lai'an wind farm sits in the low hills area of north Lai'an County, and the project is divided into 5 phases each with a capacity of 49.5 megawatts. They are respectively located in Longgang, Longwo, Dongsi, Baoshan and Dagang.
Lai'an wind farm has strong, lasting wind resources. The annual energy output can reach 100 mega kilowatthours, saving 35,000 tons standard coal each phase every year, still reducing emission of poisonous and waste gases.
Lai'an wind farm is the province's first wind power project. It will greatly enhance the development of Anhui's new energy industry, energy industry structural adjustment and the construction of the environmental friendly and energy saving society.
It is learned that the project's main assessments have all been approved except for the environmental one, which is expected to come out on July 20. The main construction will start early next month.
Anhui is a province of the People's Republic of China. Located in eastern China across the basins of the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River, it borders Jiangsu to the east, Zhejiang to the southeast, Jiangxi to the south, Hubei to the southwest, Henan to the northwest, and Shandong for a tiny section in the north. The capital of the province is Hefei.
The name "Anhui" derives from the names of two cities in south Anhui, Anqing and Huizhou (now Huangshan City).
