Costa Rica - The ICE opens second phase of a wind farm, with a total of 49.5 MW
The wind farm is located in Guanacaste, close to the volcano Miravalles, and consists of 55 wind turbines. After construction by a private consortium, it was transferred to the ICE for operation and maintenance. First thirty wind turbines had begun to operate in September of last year.
The wind farm is located in a property of 500 hectares, 30 km north of the city of Bagaces. The project - which was developed by the BOT figure, Make the capacity of Costa Rica wind farms rose 70 %. Costa Rica has 115 MW of wind power in 5 parks: Guanacaste with 50 MW, Tejona with 20 MW, Movasa with 19.2 MW, PESA with 19 MW and Aeroenergía with 6.8 MW. Also, the national company of force and light, subsidiary of the ICE, manages the construction of a new project in Santa Ana, that be called Central Valley wind farm.
