Venezuela - The Andean Development Corporation (CAF) launches new funding mechanism for clean energy projects
The new program called PROPEL (Special Financing Program for Clean Energy Projects) will finance projects that use proven NCRE, including wind, with investments of up to U 30 million.
New projects, expansions or renovations of existing facilities may be submitted through long-term loans, equity investments, and guarantees and warranties, total or partial.
The CAF –a multilateral financial institution whose mission is to support the sustainable development of its shareholder countries and regional integration- created the PROPEL with the intention of developing the implementation of small-and medium-scale clean energy projects in the region, searching for energy efficiency in Latin America.
The chief executive of the institution explained that the creation of the PROPEL is based on a model of sustainable growth and better quality, which is not only efficient from an economic standpoint, but also aims at inclusive growth, which respects cultural diversity and the environment.
