Mexico - Iberdrola to create a Networks and Substations Engineering Center.
The creation of a Networks and Substations Engineering Center, to be held by the Spanish company Iberdrola, was announced in a recent meeting for renewable energy promotion, in the official residence of Mexico’s president with senior executives of the company.
This Networks and Substations Engineering Center has as main objective the development of technology to generate wind power in Mexico, and thus harness the huge potential of this resource in the country.
In addition, company executives added that the progress made in wind field will be transferred to countries in the region and other continents as part of the promotion and development of renewable energy, enhancing energy security, diversification of primary sources and the reduction of the instability generated by the volatility of fossil fuels.
For its part, and closely in line with the discussion at this meeting, the Secretary of Energy of the country highlighted the great potential of the wind power sector, adding that by the end of 2012 the goal is to have an installed capacity equivalent to 2,500 MW in the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
