Turkey - Enerjisa to build 30 MW wind-power plant
Enerjisa, a Turkish energy company owned by Sabanci Holding and Austria’s Verbund, said on Friday it plans to build a wind power station in a venture with Siemens AG. The 37 million euro station will have a capacity of 30 megawatts and will go on stream in the northwest Turkish province of Canakkale in 2010, Enerjisa said.
Enerjisa targets capacity of 5,000 megawatts of power by 2015, of which 185 megawatts will be from wind. Turkey, which has little oil and gas supplies of its own, wants to make wind energy a primary source of power, according to the Energy Ministry’s latest strategy document. Wind has a technical potential of 88,000 megawatts in Turkey, compared with current installed capacity of 40,000 megawatts, according to government figures.
