Germany - Hanover fair "WIND" set to put a major spin on wind energy

“No other industry can boast such excellent future prospects; the wind sector has recorded growth rates of over 30% for the last three years in a row,”

Wind is the leading trade fair for wind generation technology, components and services, which takes place every two years.

So if you are involved in the manufacture of wind-power generating plant, the supply of components or services, instal-lation and fitting, plant opera- tion or project financing, then this show, to be held in Hanover from March 20 to 24, is ideal for you. There, you can present your cutting-edge technologies – and your contribution to an efficient, sustainable and competitive energy mix – to an audience of international decision-makers, disseminators and opinion leaders from the energy industry, the manufacturing industry and the public sector.

As the person responsible for the energy trade fairs at Hanover Fair, Oliver Frese, is confident that Wind will prove to be the most promising new fair launched in Hanover over the last few years. After all, the conditions for making this a successful trade show in its own right could not be better, thanks to a booming global wind energy market.

“No other industry can boast such excellent future prospects; the wind sector has recorded growth rates of over 30% for the last three years in a row,” says Thorsten Herdan, MD of the Power Systems Association.

“And for the next five years, we also expect consistently strong annual growth of about 20%. “Given its fast-growing significance in the industry, wind technology needs to be positioned strongly alongside all other key conventional and renewable generation solutions. “And Wind – the new leading trade show – is an ideal platform in this regard.”

Full Spectrum of Energy- Sector Themes
The Hanover Fair, with its four flagship energy-sector trade shows – Energy, Power Plant Technology, Pipeline Technology and Wind – is the only exhibition platform worldwide that presents the full spectrum of energy-sector themes and technologies in one place at one time and explores synergies between them: in 2008, some 100 000 visitors, of whom over 90% were trade professionals and about 25% from beyond Germany, converged on Hanover’s highly successful, specialist energy-sector exhibitions.

Not surprisingly, the Hanover-based shows also enjoy the support of Germany’s Wind Energy Association. “Our indus-try exports 80% of its produc- tion. “Maintaining that kind of performance necessitates a successful exhibition platform that puts the industry in touch with key domestic and foreign-based investors. “Its ability to broker high- level dialogue between policymakers and private-sector companies is another key strength of the fair – which is why our association will continue to support the Hanover exhibition centre in future,” explains association president Hermann Albers.

Felix Losada, deputy head of corporate com- munications at one of the leading players, Nordex, stresses: “For the first time, the global wind industry can reap the benefits of a dedicated industrial fair that caters for the full spectrum of companies – from subcontractors to big-name manufacturers. “With exports running at 90% of our total sales, we regard Wind as the ideal shop window for our ‘Made in Germany’ wind technology.”

Wind also explores the complex issues surrounding the integration of wind generation technology into the overall energy mix, with a broad range of solutions being exhibited in speciality areas, such as grid stability, grid expansion, baseload supply security and storage options.

The huge Hall 27 will feature all the key generation technologies, being home not only to the Wind show but also to Power Plant Technology, the leading trade fair for power plant design, construction, operation and maintenance.

Wind will be staged in Hanover biennially, alternating with HusumWindEnergy.
