Vestas receives large order in Spain
Vestas has received an order for a total of 61 wind turbines (112 MW) for four projects in Spain. The order comprises 49 units of the V90-1.8 MW wind turbine and 12 units of the V90-2.0 MW turbine. The order includes supply, installation, a VestasOnline™ Business SCADA system, as well as a five-year service and availability contract.
At the customer's request, details about the project ownership cannot be disclosed at this time.
“We are very pleased with the strong commitment to wind energy in Spain, where Vestas can strengthen its position as No. 1 in Modern Energy,” says Juan Araluce, President of Vestas Mediterranean A/S and continues: “This contract confirms the success of the V90-2.0 MW and the V90-1.8 MW wind turbines on the Spanish market, where Vestas had a otal installed wind capacity of 1,996 MW as at 31 December 2007.”
Delivery and commissioning of the wind turbines are scheduled to start in 2009. The four wind power plants will provide enough electricity to power more than 58,700 Spanish households and save the environment from more than 157,000 tons of CO2 per year.
The above order does not affect the Vestas Group's expectations for 2008, cf. Company announcement No. 25/2008 of 8 May 2008.
