October 7th, 2024. Wärtsilä, a Finnish company and leader in innovative technologies and lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets, and Ormazabal, a company specialized in custom high-tech electrical solutions based in Bizkaia, have signed a new joint project in which the latter will provide Wärtsilä with a custom electrical solution for one of its engine test benches in its laboratory in Bermeo. This technology will protect the Finnish manufacturer's test facility at its laboratory in Bermeo.

With a long-standing partnership that spans several projects, Ormazabal once again steps forward to support Wärtsilä. This time, the chosen solution is a combination of fluorinated gas-free switchgear sbp.zero24 and range cpg.0 lite, which are fully compatible for extensions and replacements.

These units, equipped with relays from the Bizkaia brand, deliver a fully proprietary, customized electrical system designed specifically to meet Wärtsilä’s needs. This set of switchgear will be installed in one of its engine test benches, connecting it to the rest of the electrical infrastructure associated with the laboratory, ensuring continuous protection of its equipment against potential disruptions in the public distribution grid.

This new project, for which the installation will also be handled by the Bizkaia firm, aligns with Wärtsilä's commitment to innovation in technology and sustainable services as a key differentiator in helping its customers continuously improve their economic and environmental performance. The Finnish company is ahead of the regulatory changes at the European level, which will require the placement of SF6-free equipment in electrical solution installations of this type connected to the grid. In this scenario, Wärtsilä once again trusts in Ormazabal, having done so previously for the supply of electrical transformers, medium-voltage switchgear, or control and protection equipment in previous projects.
