WINDPOWER 2008 Conference & Exhibition is Poised to Exceed Expectations

WINDPOWER 2008 is North America’s largest wind energy industry event of the year. Not only has the industry experienced 29% average growth over the last few years, so has WINDPOWER conference and exhibition, as demonstrated by the explosive growth in exhibitors, sessions and conference attendees alike. This promises to be a world-class conference that is in lock-step with the industry and we invite you to attend this monumental event.

Wind energy has certainly come of age as a significant contributor to the global energy picture and electric utilities in the United States take wind seriously when they consider additions to their supply system. These utilities understand wind’s importance in addressing issues of power security, climate change, cost stability and price competition. It is for this reason that we coined the expression for this conference as Wind: thriving at the epicenter of energy.

We are convening the conference this year in Houston, Texas, at the heart of the energy industry. Over the past decade, Texas has installed more wind energy and transmission infrastructure than any other state in the US and as such has become a model of how to make wind energy work on a global level. Their new model of a transmission system that links wind power regions to load and population centers, and their legislation and regulatory rule-making reform, is becoming a template for success throughout the country.

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is committed to supporting the wind energy industry, not just in Texas but throughout the entire US. In fact AWEA, in is investigating how wind energy can supply 20% of all US electricity by 2030. Meanwhile, the European Union is requiring all member countries to provide a plan by the end of 2008 to achieve 20% of all basic energy (not just electricity) to be supplied by renewables by 2020. If that sounds aggressive, the WINDPOWER 2008 education program will address these and other big picture issues as well as details required to get to these goals. We encourage you to attend as many sessions as possible to learn more.

Today we are upon a new era in energy production. We encourage you to join us at WINDPOWER 2008 Conference and Exhibition to help us explore a new frontier in the making.
