Wind Industry Profile of

Nordex supplying first multi-megawatt turbines to the United States in 2008

Contract for 62.5 MW project signed with Everpower Renewables

Nordex will be getting off to a strong start to the new year with a major contract in the United States. Nordex USA has now entered into an agreement with the US developer Everpower Renewables, New York, for the delivery of 25 N90/2500 kW turbines for the Krayn wind farm in Pennsylvania, plus after-sales service. In addition, the contract provides for an option for a further system of the same type. As the turbines are to be delivered in summer 2008, the project is scheduled for completion in December of that year and has a value of around EUR 68 million.

Measurements at the site indicate mean wind speeds of 7.5 m/s. The calculated annual energy yield from the wind farm is sufficient to supply over 30,000 households with clean electricity. In this way, emissions of around 160,000 tons of carbon dioxide will be avoided.

“For Nordex, this contract marks a further key step in its return to the US market, for which we are offering the N90, a proven product in the large scale segment. Given its huge project pipeline, Everpower is an important partner for us in our efforts to open up the United States,” explains Carsten Pedersen, COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex AG. Everpower Renewables is currently developing wind farms with a total volume of more than 1.5 gigawatts in the United States.

About Nordex
As one of the technological leaders in multi-megawatt wind power systems, Nordex is benefiting from the trend in favor of large-scale turbines. The range comprises one of the world’s largest series-produced wind power systems (N80/N90/N100 2,500 kW). To date, around 500 turbines of this type have been installed around the world. This experience with multi-megawatt turbines gives Nordex a decisive lead over most of its competitors. Nordex has installed a total of over 3,100 turbines with an aggregate capacity of more than 3,500 MW (November 2007). With exports accounting for around 80 percent of its business, Nordex AG plays a key role in international high-growth regions. The Company has offices and subsidiaries in 18 countries around the world.
