REpower inaugurates new production facility in Trampe (Brandenburg, Germany)
Hamburg, 8 October 2007. REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) is expanding its production capacity in Germany and today inaugurates a new production hall at the company’s manufacturing site in Trampe, located to the northeast of Berlin. To meet the increasing demand for wind energy turbines of the multi-megawatt class “made by REpower“, the existing halls, each with a length of 55 metres, have both been extended by an annex of 35 metres length each. For this purpose, the company has invested approx. EUR 1.2 million. Construction started in June this year, the halls were completed last week.
Previously, Trampe had an annual production capacity of about 150 wind energy turbines; in the extensions, six wind energy turbines can be manufactured weekly now which will double the annual production capacity.
The company’s management board, the 170 employees in Trampe, the mayor and local authorities celebrated the inauguration today.
In his speech, REpower’s CEO Prof. Dr. Fritz Vahrenholt pointed out the importance which the Brandenburg site has for the company: “Because of the currently highest orders on hand in the company’s history – more than 1,000 megawatts in total – it became necessary to expand the existing production sites besides constructing new ones as currently in Bremerhaven or Osterrönfeld. Furthermore, we will engage 30 new employees here at Trampe next year. From here – Trampe in Brandenburg – our wind energy turbines are delivered to all over the world. Our customers especially appraise the reliable technology, the outstanding quality as well as our service, of which one division is also managed in Trampe.”
