REpower and EPURON sign framework agreement for a total of 160 MW
Hamburg, 7 August 2007. REpower Systems AG (WKN 617 703) and EPURON GmbH have signed a joint framework agreement for the delivery of 80 wind turbines for international projects. It mainly involves the REpower MM82 and MM92 turbines. The wind farm projects are to be implemented presumably until the end of 2009 in Germany, Italy, France and Australia. REpower is the third largest German manufacturer of onshore and offshore wind turbines. EPURON, a subsidiary of the listed company Conergy AG, develops, finances and implements major projects in the field of renewable energies.
Prof. Fritz Vahrenholt, CEO of REpower Systems AG, states: "The signing of this framework agreement is evidence of the trust which EPURON has in our international experience in manufacturing and installing multi-megawatt turbines. We look forward to carrying out projects together all over the world and also to the long-term collaboration."
Joachim Müller, as a member of the executive board of EPURON among other things responsible for wind power: "We have been successfully working together with REpower for a long time on projects in Europe. This and the high degree of reliability and tried-and-tested technology of the REpower turbines were the decisive factors which prompted us to sign this framework agreement for 160 MW."
The agreement enables EPURON to expand its international growth strategy in the projects we have already secured in Italy, France and Australia on time”, reports Müller. The company is also developing other attractive markets such as India, Turkey and the USA. In the past, EPURON has developed, financed and implemented wind power projects with an output of some 235 megawatts.
The framework agreement with EPURON is – just like the agreement recently signed by REpower with enXco in the USA – one of the projects listed in the REpower statement published on 2 July of this year to the effect that the company is currently in negotiations regarding orders for various projects in European countries other than Germany and in the USA. These projects are to be carried out between 2008 and 2010.
