USA - GE Energy to expand wind group in Schenectady, NY
GE Energy plans to expand its renewables global headquarters in Schenectady, N.Y., with the opening of a new wind product management and customer support center. The new center will create approximately 150 professional jobs by the end of this year, GE Energy says.
The expansion will focus on the company's strategic and product development in the wind division as well as provide a customer support center. New positions added include 50 jobs for the customer support operation, which will feature a remote diagnostic facility to monitor performance of wind turbines around the world.
According to the company, GE will also begin offering hands-on wind turbine training for employees and customers at its learning center in Niskayuna, N.Y., and will partner with the global research center, also in Niskayuna, to develop advanced renewable technologies.
