Siemens Gamesa Plants Trees
'The Forests of Siemens Gamesa' project is part of the company's social commitment to meeting the UN Agenda 2030 for a better planet. This year, Siemens Gamesa plans to plant over 50,000 trees in collaboration with several reforestation partners. When these trees are fully grown, they will together remove over 1 million kg of CO2 from the atmosphere.
To help the company get there, Siemens Gamesa is working with several partners to supervise the planting of small 'forests' near many of its businesses. The first major tree planting will take place on 17 October at a site near Madrid, and two more near the company's headquarters in Bilbao and Navarre, Spain, in October and November respectively.
Further tree planting initiatives will follow this year in Mexico, Morocco, France and Brazil, and subsequently in several other countries where the company operates, including the UK, Germany, Denmark and the U.S.
Some of these activities are aimed at restoring damaged forest areas and are supported by volunteers made up of Siemens Gamesa employees. In the past, the company has led tree planting initiatives in countries such as Mexico, China, Spain and India, but with the creation of 'The Forests of Siemens Gamesa' programme, these initiatives will be brought together and more will be invested to expand the programme.
