Wind Industry Profile of
Mono Bucket Project in Deutsche Bucht OWF Cancelled
It had already been indicated: Northland Power had broken off the installation of the two new 'mono bucket' foundation structures in the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm last year and questioned whether the project could be continued. Now the decision has been made and the demonstrator project will be discontinued.
As the Canadian company has now announced, an assessment of the cause of the technical problems that occurred during the installation is underway. However, since it will not be completed until the middle of the year, it has been decided to permanently discontinue the installation of the demonstrator project, among other things because of the time problems associated with the technical review.
The installation of the other 31 monopile foundations including turbines went smoothly and was even completed before the deadline. The 31 turbines with a total production capacity of 252 MW have been generating electricity since the end of September 2019 and, before completion, contributed to sales of USD 96 million in 2019.
