Wind Industry Profile of
Buss Terminal Eemshaven to Serve as Base Port for World's Largest OWF
Hornsea 2 is located in the North Sea, 89 km off the Yorkshire Coast in the UK. It will consist of 165 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines and have a total capacity of 1.4 gigawatts, making it the largest offshore wind farm in the world. It will supply up to 1.3 million households with green energy and span an area of 462 km.
“We are delighted to provide our services for this large-scale project to Deme Offshore in the UK. This underlines the combined strength of our project team in Hamburg and our terminal in Eemshaven”, comments Martin Schulz, Managing Director of the Buss Energy Group, about the upcoming project.
Buss Terminal Eemshaven in the Netherlands won the tender offer issued by DEME Offshore in February and is now responsible for the handling, storage and terminal logistics of the 165 monopiles and transition pieces at its own terminal site. The monopile foundations of the wind turbines weigh up to 1,230 tons. This equals the weight of approx. three fully loaded Boeing 747-400 aircrafts.
