Wind Industry Profile of
Petrofac to Build Two Offshore Wind Substations in the Netherlands
The company has been awarded the contract for the construction of the second substation for offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ), which will be called Beta. The order for the first substation, the HKZ platform Alpha, has already been given to Petrofac in July 2018.
George Salibi, Chief Operating Officer – Engineering & Construction at Petrofac, said: “With the initial stages of the work for HKZ platform Alpha well underway, we are delighted to confirm the option for HKZ platform Beta. This important project integrates our engineering, project management and procurement capabilities and we look forward to the safe and efficient delivery of both platforms for TenneT.”
HKZ platform Alpha is scheduled to become operational in 2021, with HKZ platform Beta scheduled to become operational in 2022.
A total of eight 700 MW standardised concept transformer substations will be installed off the coast of the Netherlands until 2030.
