Missing Grid Connection Causes Trouble in Netherlands
As Dutch energy company Nuon (Vattenfall Group) reports, the grid connection of the Wieringermeer wind farm is delayed. Transmission system operator Liander announced that it will not be possible to finish the grid connection by summer 2018. Instead a connection in the second quarter of 2019 is expected.
The Wieringermeer wind farm consists of 93 turbines now being repowered by 99 new, more powerful turbines, 50 of which are part of the Nuon portfolio. A total of 280,000 Dutch households will be supplied with green electricity - a triplication of the current performance.
"For Nuon, this means an annoying delay. We have been in preparation for years and unfortunately, this spring, the grid connection is delayed. We have already started various preparations in the area last year," says project manager Gerard van Oostveen.
The tenders for the construction of the new turbines were stopped until the situation has finally been clarified. All involved companies have been informed.
