Record-Breaking Year for French Wind Power: 2016 Brings Growth of 45 Percent
Last year, 1,560.50 MW of new wind power was added in France, bringing the country to 12,065.30 MW on December 31, 2016. The French association attributes this to the stable legal situation, since in 2014, finally, a law could be reached which still exists today and whose first results have now become visible.
"The wind power industry welcomes this achievement. The dedicated efforts to stabilize the economic and regulatory framework for wind power for several years have finally come to fruition and show that the needs of the sector have been addressed. We also welcome the support of the authorities, which have shown their willingness to accelerate the development of wind power in France," said Olivier Perot, President of the French Wind Association.
For the coming years, the French continue to expect stable growth in order to meet the set targets for expansion (15 GW for 2018) and continue to actively work on climate protection.
