Canada - New wind-power plant to create 140 manufacturing jobs
A new business to build bases for wind-energy turbines will create about 140 jobs in Sault Ste. Marie, officials from Algoma Steel and the Government of Ontario will announce today. Sources say that a large building will be erected near the Superior Slag site east of Flakeboard to accomodate the new venture, in which Algoma Steel will hold a minority but significant interest. Steel plate for the towers will be supplied by Algoma Steel. Sault MPP David Orazietti will attend, accompanied by Ontario Minister of Economic Development and Trade Joseph Cordiano and Minister of Northern Development and Mines Rick Bartolucci will attend the opening. Bruce Strapp and John Febbraro (shown) from the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corp. played a major role in snagging the job-creation prize, private-sector sources say.
