Wind Industry Profile of
France: EDPR opens the Francourville wind farm
The opening ceremony will be attended by Chantal Deseyne, Senator for Eure-et-Loir; Philippe Vigier, Member of the French National Assembly for Eure-et-Loir; Estelle Cochard, Councillor for the region of Centre-Val de Loire and Deputy Mayor of Mainvilliers; Fabien Verider, Councillor for the region of Centre-Val de Loire; Eric Moulin, Mayor of Francourville, and Frédéric Lanoë, Managing Director of EDPR France and Belgium.
The Francourville wind farm has six wind turbines which are 130 metres tall. The installation of the wind turbines was defined based on studies which took into account human, technical, environmental and regulatory considerations. The successful completion of this project is also thanks to the excellent cooperation between the authorities, the community and other local players.
The wind farm also contributes towards France’s renewable energy targets. This is especially important given that France is obliged to install almost 23,000 MW of onshore wind energy by 2023 to reach the targets it has been set. With 364 MW of installed capacity in France, EDPR is the fifth leading producer of wind energy on a nationwide level.
EDPR’s footprint in France will be bolstered in the coming weeks by the commissioning of the Dammarie wind farm, located some 10 km from Francourville. This latest opening will strengthen EDPR’s leadership position in the Centre-Val de Loire region, following the construction of wind farms in the Departments of Loiret and Indre, and now the Department of Eure-et-Loir.
