Work started on WindEnergy Study 2006

Data collection for the WindEnergy Study 2006 has started. This is the third time, following 2002 and 2004, that DEWI (German Wind Energy Institute) is conducting the survey for Hamburg Messe, asking manufacturers and project developers for their assessment of the wind industry market worldwide. The results of the survey will be published by Hamburg Messe in March, in advance of the WindEnergy 2006. To mark the start of data collection, Peter Bergleiter, the Project Manager of WindEnergy 2006, commented in an interview for e-news on the concept, goals and significance of the Study.

e-news: Mr. Bergleiter, what is the main focus of the WindEnergy Study 2006?

"The main focus of data collection, as in the previous surveys, will be on how the global wind energy market will develop in the next five years. For example, the Study aims to find out how the international markets are likely to develop in the next few years, e.g. in Spain, the UK and France, and what future target markets are identified by manufacturers, project developers and equipment suppliers. Other key issues addressed will be Offshore and Repowering."

e-news: What relevance do the findings have for practical operations?

"The goal of the survey is to answer questions that concern companies in the wind energy industry. So the WindEnergy Study 2006 will be a valuable tool for all the players in the wind industry - reliable figures and forecasts are essential to establish an effective corporate strategy."

e-news: What status does the WindEnergy Study have?

"The Study has established itself right from the start as a well known and widely respected market indicator, both with business and with the media. That is due in particular to comparability of data over all three studies, and to the quality of the market forecast."
