Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has achieved a fresh milestone in its growth strategy for India by building a new blade factory in the town of Nellore, in Andra Pradesh, one of the country's fastest-growing wind markets.

With enough capacity to manufacture 250 blades (500 MW) a year, the facility has been configured to produce the G114-2.0 MW class S model, a turbine custom-designed for wind conditions in India. The company plans to inaugurate the factory, which will employ 400 people, in September 2016.

"The start-up of this new facility evidences our industrial pledge in India and our commitment to developing the country's wind power and broader manufacturing infrastructure. By opening our third factory, we are stepping up our operations in a priority region for Gamesa, while generating wealth via job creation and purchases from local suppliers", said Ramesh Kymal, Gamesa's CEO in India.
