Senvion develops turbine for even more efficient energy generation
The turbine type Senvion 3.2M122 is particularly suitable for low-wind sites and offers higher yields compared with its predecessors thanks to its capacity upgrade.
The new Senvion 3.2M122 turbine features the NES (Next Electrical System) that was recently developed by Senvion. The additional output increase to 3.2 megawatts (MW) will enable Senvion customers to rise yield by 2–3% per year compared to a 3.0M122. “Senvion represents the highest quality standards, and not just in terms of first-class components and the processing of our products but also in terms of their ongoing modification and improvement. With the Senvion 3.2M122, we are achieving a new benchmark of efficient onshore turbines, thereby once again demonstrating the value of our German technology,” says Andreas Nauen, CEO of Senvion.
The Senvion 3.2M122 has a rated output of 3.2 MW and a rotor diameter of 122 metres. Thanks to the large rotor combined with the hub height of 139 metres and the new NES, use at low-wind sites can be made even more cost-effective, thereby helping to reduce energy costs. In Germany, Senvion has installed over 400 wind turbines of the 3.XM series, which together produce 1,400 MW and therefore independently supply 900,000 households with electricity.
At the opening of Hannover Messe 2015, Senvion announced the Next Electrical System, which enables a more stable grid feed-in thanks to its improved properties that have been tailored to the needs of grid operators. With the new 3.2M122 turbine, Senvion is taking another step towards a more efficient production and more sustainable integration of renewable energies into power grids.
