BayWa r.e. acquires the rights to a Swedish wind farm project
The Swedish subsidiary HS Kraft AB facilitated the acquisition of the rights to a wind farm project in northern Sweden on behalf of BayWa r.e. This onshore wind farm comprises up to six plants and is under construction in Stormon in the Härnösand region.
HS Kraft AB, in which BayWa r.e. holds a 76 percent stake, is taking care of all local business. BayWa r.e. entered the Scandinavian wind power project business with this holding last spring. "By the end of 2015 the bulk of this project will have been realised", says Matthias Taft, Chairman of the board of BayWa r.e. The initial five plants are scheduled to generate 50 GWh power, enough to supply around 10,000 households.
The Malmö subsidiary of BayWa r.e. is a specialist in wind farm projects. It is able to offer all services related to such projects, from feasibility studies, to planning, development, construction and operations management of wind turbine plants.
Matthias Taft continued: "Clearly, we recognise Scandinavia as a future core market for wind power." In this market, the company also offers technical and commercial operations management as well as technical consultation. The excellent wind conditions and stable circumstances in general encourage the company to expand its business in this region further.
