WINDaba 2014: Call for Abstracts – deadline 31 July 2014

The Global Wind Energy Council and the South African Wind Energy Association are pleased to announce that the call for abstracts for Windaba 2014 is now open.

The industry in South Africa is in a very rapid growth phase with 1985 MW of projects awarded by the end of 2013, expectations of 5 GW of installed capacity within 10 years, and ambitions for 9 GW by 2030. All of this inevitably comes with challenges and issues to address.

This year’s conference - with the theme “Power2thePeople” - will focus on the socio-economic challenges faced by the sector as well as the benefits of wind power to the greater South Africa and its communities - within the context of wind farms that are now commissioned and providing electricity. The three day programme will provide a platform to discuss these issues as well as finance, the regulatory framework, grid challenges, and environmental matters.

Abstracts relating to any of the issues outlined above should be submitted by email to Leole@windaba.co.za or via the Windaba website by 31 July 2014 – earlier submissions are very much encouraged.

Windaba is South Africa’s premier conference and exhibition jointly organised by SAWEA and GWEC. Windaba 2014 will take place in Cape Town from 3-5 November 2014. More information on Windaba 2014, including sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, can be found on the Windaba website.
