Turkey increases number of wind farms
Around 23 wind farms are being constructed in Turkey, the Turkish Wind Energy Association said Friday.
Quoting a report by the association, Azerbaijan’s Trend news agency said the wind power stations are being constructed in 12 cities around the country.
Currently, over 60 wind power stations with a total capacity of 2,300 megawatts operate in Turkey.
After new wind power stations are used, their total installed capacity in the country will hit 3,000 megawatts.
The largest number of wind power stations fall to Izmir – 23 percent, Balikesir – 14.5 percent, Tekirdag – eight percent.
According to the report, Turkey intends to increase the number of wind power stations in the coming years. International tenders will be held.
Earlier, the Turkish government said that private sector projects aimed at generating electricity from renewable energy sources will be supported and partially funded by the state.
