Ukrainian Wind Power Association - Increasing the capacity of wind power

“As of late 2011, the designed capacity of the wind-powered generators made up 151.1 MW to 301.1 MW,”

The Ukrainian Wind Power Association has pointed to the increase in the capacity of wind energy at the Ukrainian wind power plants by 150 MW to 301.1 MW in 2012, chairman of the Ukrainian Wind Power Association Andrii Konechenkov told the Ukrainian News agency.

“As of late 2011, the designed capacity of the wind-powered generators made up 151.1 MW to 301.1 MW,” he noted.

Of them 276.1 MW generators have already been connected to the unified energy grid of Ukraine: 192 MW belong to private investors, and 84.1 MW generators were constructed in the frames of the state complex program on construction of wind power plants. Konechenkov noted that in 2013, it is expected to construct other facilities with the capacity of 250-300 MW. “We plan to double the capacity to 550-600 MW. This year, the capacity should be 250-300 MW,” he said.

The chairman of the association also noted if the law on local element is amended or not enacted, the number of wind-powered generators should increase considerably in 2013. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the State agency for energy efficiency and energy saving expects electric energy production from renewed energy sources to made up about 2 billion kWh in 2013.

The DTEK company started construction the Botievska wind power plant (Zaporizhia region) in fall 2011. The designed capacity will made up 200 MW. The construction of the first 90 MW was completed in late 2012.

The Wind Parks of Ukraine intends to construct wind facilities for 125.5 MW in 2013. The Fuhrlander Windtechnology launched the production of wind-powered generators with the capacity of 2.5 MW on the basis of the Kramatorsk heavy engineering tool plant in June 2012.
