This week: DeWind Europe GmbH installs D9.1 – 2 MW prototype in Altenbruch/Lower Saxony
Seoul, Irvine, Luebeck, 28 November 2012 – DeWind Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd (DSME) (SEO:042660), is pleased and proud to announce the successful installation of its new 2 MW prototype D9.1 on Germany’s North Sea coast in Altenbruch/Cuxhaven (Lower Saxony).
Since
the take-over of DeWind by DSME 3 years ago, a large number of
additional staff has been recruited and utilised to finalise the
design and construction not only of the D9.1, but also the 60 Hz
version of the D9 series – the D9.2.
DeWind turbines have been
successfully marketed in North America over the past 3 years, most
recently with the completion of the 80 MW wind farm Novus I, the
start of Novus II wind farm with a further 40 MW and the successful
completion of the Frisco and Little Pringle wind farms of 20 MW
each.
Dr. Sungkon Han, DeWind Europe’s Managing Director: „Following the successful entrance onto the North American market with the completion of DeWind’s US projects Little Pringle, Frisco & Novus I & II, it is now the time to more focus on the European market with the completion of our D9.1 turbine with a 93 m rotor to establish it as one of the most profitable turbines in its class. We are very pleased to see the start of a new generation of turbines, which are based on the long proven reliability of previous DeWind products, yet have been even more refined for up to date requirements. There is already a strong demand in Europe, especially in several Eastern European countries. The start of series production of the D9.1 is planned for 2013.”
Dr. Martin G. Hake, DeWind Europe’s Vice President Sales, Marketing and Business Development: “Beyond the D9.1 prototype installation, we want to mark our comeback onto the European market with the establishment of the first commercial projects with this turbine in Germany and Eastern Europe next year and have already entered contract negotiations.”
The
D9.1 power quality exceeds even strongest demands of any utility, the
very large range of reactive power operation, even below cut-in wind
speed, ensures an excellent price/earnings ratio, while the unique
SCADA system allows direct access to the turbine data and parameter.
DeWind’s D9 wind turbines are the latest refinement of the proven DeWind 2 MW wind turbine technology, dating back to 2002 when the first DeWind 2 MW wind turbines entered commercial operation. The grid-friendly design of the D9 uniquely provides grid-support capability to all grid applications. DeWind turbines have been installed in environments ranging from sea level to high elevations in excess of 4,300 m and in climates from desert heat to extreme cold. Currently, DeWind 2 MW turbines are installed and operating in 15 countries worldwide.
