Poland - RWE Launches Fourth Wind Farm
RWE has launched a wind farm in Krzecin in the north of Poland. The new wind power project generates 14 MW of wind energy. The total wind power generated by the company's wind farms in Poland has reached 122 MW.
By the end of 2015 RWE plans to build wind farms generating 300 MW, which will cost some PLN2bn. RWE Renewables Polska management board member Robert Macias says development in the wind energy sector is the firm's priority in Poland.
RWE claims land-based wind farms will speed up development of renewable energy sector in Poland. Krzecin is made up of seven wind turbines generating 2 MW each. Annually the wind turbines will be able to produce some 30,000 MWh of energy.
The wind farms in Poland are operated by RWE Innogy. Besides the Krzecin project there are also wind farms in Suwalki (41 MW), Tychowo (35 MW) and Piecki (32 MW). There is also a wind farm under construction in Nowy Staw (39 MW). New wind turbines are expected to be operational at the beginning of 2013.
