Sweden - Skanska and Jämtkraft joint-invest in 30 wind turbine farm
Skanska’s holding amounts to 50 percent; the other parties own 25 percent each. The construction contract will be included in order bookings for the second quarter.
The new wind farm will be one of the largest land-based plants in Sweden. The project comprises 30 wind turbines at Sjisjka, in a low mountainous area in Gällivare Municipality, in the north of Sweden. The wind turbines will be supplied by Vestas and will be 131 meters high, with an installed capacity of up to 78 MW. The new wind farm will be one of the largest land-based wind power plants in Sweden with an annual production of around 200GWh, and be able to supply electricity for 43,000 households.
Skanska joins the project as investor and contractor. O2 will contribute wind power expertise in the form of project engineering, turbine procurement, planning and operation, while Jämtkraft will provide its knowledge of power grids, production and electricity supply.
“Skanska, O2 and Jämtkraft combined can offer all the expertise that is needed to implement a successful project. The project also complies with Skanska’s objectives of being a leader in green construction and contributing to a more sustainable society,” says Göran Carlberg, Project Development Director at Skanska Infrastructure Development.
Jemtska, a joint venture between Skanska and Jämtkraft, is the contractor for civil and electrical works. The work has commenced and electricity production is expected to start in 2012. The necessary environmental and building permits have been granted.
