China - Vestas receives 48 MW wind energy order from the China Longyuan Power Group
Vestas has signed its first wind power order in 2011 with China Longyuan Power Group for 48 MW. The wind power order consists of 24 units of the V80-2.0 MW wind turbine which will be installed in Zhongmen, Putian County in the coastal province of Fujian in south eastern China. This order is signed in continuation of the 36 MW order which was signed between Longyuan and Vestas in 2010 and marks another important step in an evolving partnership between the two companies.
Longyuan and Vestas have been working together since 2005 and the joint efforts have resulted in more than 500 MW of wind farm projects to date, consisting of more than 360 wind turbines covering both kW and MW class wind turbines. Longyuan is one of Vestas’ largest customers in China with most Vestas wind turbines installed. By the end of 2010, Longyuan was still the largest wind energy developer in China with more than 6,500 MW of accumulated installed capacity.
The CEO of Longyuan, Mr Xie Changjun, says, “We have chosen Vestas’ V80 wind turbine because we are confident in its performance. It allows us to reduce the need for maintenance and replacement of components which means that we can reduce our stock of spare parts. At the same time, we are very pleased with Vestas’ efforts in advancing their services, including reducing turbine down-time, lost production and installation time, which has given us more confidence in working with Vestas.”
After a longer period with no collaboration between Longyuan and Vestas, the partnership is picking up again starting with last years’ order of 36 MW and Vestas remains committed to delivering business case certainty and to tailoring solutions that address the customer’s specific needs.
“High quality products and services as well as reliable partnerships are important elements to our customers when they evaluate wind projects, and these are inseparable elements in our approach to sustainable development of our business in China,” says Jens Tommerup, President of Vestas China. “In 2011, we are stepping up our efforts to deliver more sophisticated service solutions in China. This means that we will make full use of our unique skills to provide our customers with tailored, timely and comprehensive solutions – while at the same time keeping safety and quality our top priority.”
The order includes supply of wind turbines, installation and commissioning, a Vestas Online® SCADA system and a service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2011.
In late 2010, Vestas opened a regional sales office in Fuzhou city in the province of Fujian to be able to respond faster to customers’ needs in the region. Vestas is the world leader in wind technology, with a history of technological innovation and over 30 years of experience in developing, manufacturing, installing and maintaining intelligent, high performing and high quality wind power plant solutions. Vestas was a pioneer in the wind industry and started to manufacture wind wind turbines in 1979.
Vestas installed China’s first wind turbines in Shandong in 1986, and as of 31 December 2010, Vestas has installed almost 3,000 MW of clean energy across thirteen provinces in China. This makes Vestas one of the biggest accumulated suppliers of wind power plants in China.
Over the past few years, Vestas has established a firmly rooted presence in China with more than RMB 3.5 billion worth of investments and more than 3,000 employees, committed to delivering high quality wind energy solutions for a sustainable energy future.
Vestas has its largest integrated manufacturing complex globally situated in Tianjin, its China headquarters in Beijing, a factory in Hohhot, a global procurement office in Shanghai and a state-of-the-art foundry in Xuzhou.
In October 2010, Vestas opened its China Technology R&D Centre in Beijing, which is an important part of Vestas’ global innovation network and represents Vestas’ intention to bring the best of its knowledge to China. Furthermore, the R&D Centre is significantly increasing Vestas’ responsiveness to market demands and development trends in terms of new technology.
As the global leader in wind energy, Vestas is committed to helping develop China’s wind energy sector into a world-class modern renewable energy sector. Vestas is actively sharing its 30 years of industry experience and expertise with partners and stakeholders in the Chinese wind energy industry.
