Estonia - The largest wind park opened in the Baltics

The largest wind park in the Baltic countries and Estonia opened today in the Noarootsi rural municipality, Estonia. In the Aulepa Wind Park, a total of thirteen 3 MW WinWinD wind turbines have been erected. The wind park’s total output is 39 MW, with an annual production of over 100 GWh, which will cover 1.3% of the end consumption of electricity in Estonia.

The Aulepa wind park’s wind turbines are of the WWD 3 type, based on WinWinD’s proprietary technology, with a rated power of 3 MW. The hub height of the turbines is 100m and the rotor diameter is 100 m. “Thanks to Aulepa wind farm, we can offer Eesti Energia customers electricity produced in an environmentally sustainable manner, cutting annual atmospheric emissions of carbon dioxide by 120 000 tons,” stated Eesti Energia Renewable Energy Business Unit director Ando Leppiman.

Sven Aasa, member of the Aulepa wind farm’s management board and project manager, described the process of completion as being “smooth” and praised the cooperation between all parties involved: “The work begun last January and the wind farm proceeded without a hitch.”

In addition to the Aulepa Wind Park, WinWinD earlier delivered a total of 36 MW of wind turbines to Estonia for the Viru-Nigula and Rouste wind parks.
