Vietnam - Asian Renewable Energy plans 50 MW wind power plant
Vietnam's Asian Renewable Energy Co. will invest VND1.82 trillion ($107 million) to build a wind power plant in the country's southern region, a local government official said Thursday.
The plant, with a capacity of 50 megawatts, will be located in Binh Thuan province, 200 kilometers northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, said Nguyen Van Dung, deputy chairman of the province.
"We will grant an investment license to the Vietnam-based company later Thursday or Friday," Dung told Dow Jones Newswires.
The plant will feature 20 wind turbines made by Fuhrlander AG and General Electric Co. (GE), he said. The plant is scheduled to become operational from 2011, he added.
