SNEC (2009) International Wind Power Conference & Expo

March 30-April 1, 2009 / Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center, China

Due to energy shortage and global warming, wind power generation, as a major means to cut green house gas emissions, is developing fast around the world and the technology has continuously been improved.

In the past decade, wind power was rising at an unexpected high speed. Only in 2007, the world’s overall capacity was up to 94 million KW. The industry has developed to be a market with an annual production value of more than 23 billion USD.

Wind energy storage in China ranks first among the world, with on-shore available capacity up to 250 million KW, and off-shore available capacity up to 750 million KW, offering a large potential of commercial and scale application. Shanghai has abundant wind energy sources with a potential of over 2 million KW wind power capacity, including an off-shore 500,000 KW. The city is currently building its first off-shore wind farm at the east side of East Sea Bridge. The installed capacity will be 100,000 KW and the project is expected to be finished in 2010. Problems that will emerge and experience people will accumulate during the construction will have
great demonstration significance to more similar projects in future.

Chinese government gives top priority to wind power industry, and puts the development of renewable energies in the most important position in the 11th Five-year Plan. On January 1, 2006, Renewable Energy Law began to take effects in China. Supporting regulations were also issued, such as the quota system. Wind power in this vast land has entered into a booming stage.

It is estimated by International Energy Agency that, by 2020, wind power capacity will reach 1, 26 billion KW, calling for an investment of around 630 billion USD. This is a large market for global mechanical & electrical manufacturing industry and for wind power expansion. China will earmark nearly 100 billion USD in this field, thus will attract a great number of leading wind turbine manufacturers to enter its market by such means as building plants and cooperating with Chinese colleagues.

To enhance international cooperation and promote the technology exchange, Asia and Pacific New Energy Industry Association, Shanghai New Energy Industry Association (SNEIA), Delegation of German Industry and Commerce Shanghai/ econet china and Sun & Wind Energy will jointly hold SNEC (2009) International Wind Power Conference & Expo (“SNEC WIND POWER 2009”) from March 30 to April 1, 2009 in Shanghai, China.

SNEC WIND POWER 2009 welcomes everyone in this field! Come and take the chance of this international platform to make contacts with worldwide colleagues and create a bright future of green energy jointly through communication, cooperation and technology innovation!
