Wind Industry Profile of

Absolute fieldbus encoder with support for DeviceNet

Leine & Linde is now introducing support for DeviceNet in the 600-series, a robust ø 58 mm fieldbus encoder series. The series supports 13-bit singleturn or 25-bit multiturn with screw terminal or miniature M12 connection. Mechanically, various shafted and hollow-shafted versions are available. The DeviceNet encoder supports encoder profile revision 2 and the functionality has been tested in compliance with the ODVA conformance test.

Fieldbus technology is more and more frequently used in automation applications world wide. Based on network topology, system requirements and performance, various types of fieldbus systems are available, all developed and supported by individual standardisation organisations. The key principle of fieldbus technology is to enhance device functionality, achieve communication transparency, simplify and standardise installations as well as limit installation and maintenance costs. Sensors, like encoders, with support for various fieldbus interfaces have been available for numerous years and are constantly gaining more and more market shares.

DeviceNet
The fieldbus interface DeviceNet is a hardware-independent and open protocol, developed and managed by the standardisation organisation ODVA supported by Rockwell Automation. DeviceNet is a producer-consumer multidrop network where each device and/or controller acts as an individual node. DeviceNet uses CAN functionality for the data link layer facilitating implementations and installations. If you would like to know more about the Leine & Linde DeviceNet encoder and what it can do for your application please contact your nearest Leine & Linde representative.
