Qualitas Energy acquires a wind farm with 32 turbines near the German North Sea coast
Berlin, 17 December 2024. – Qualitas Energy, a leading fund manager and platform for the investment, management, and development of renewable energy, energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure, announced today the successful acquisition of a wind farm with 32 turbines, located on the German North Sea coast in Lower Saxony, near Cuxhaven.
All 32 existing turbines, which began operation in 1998, have reached the end of their operational lifespan. The turbine repowering process is at an advanced stage and involves the installation of five new turbines, thereby increasing the total output from 17.2 MW to 21.6 MW. This will lead to more efficient land use on site and provide sustainably generated wind power to over 14,000 households.
“This acquisition expands our wind energy portfolio with a highly promising project in an excellent wind location,” emphasized Johannes Overbeck, Head of Investment at Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH. “Qualitas Energy is committed to a long-term strategy that seeks to identify opportunities, carefully assess risks and boldly move forward to actively contribute to accelerating the energy transition.”
The company’s mid-term goal is to invest €1.2 billion in acquiring and developing a 4 GW wind energy project pipeline in Germany, focusing on an agile and high-quality execution strategy.
Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH is part of the Qualitas Energy Group, which is committed to the transition to a decarbonized economy and focuses on the acquisition, financing, project development, construction, and operation of onshore wind turbines with a team of more than 250 employees in Berlin, Hamburg, Wiesbaden, Trier, Cologne, and Stuttgart.
