Dear reader,

With massive growth forecast in the wind capacity additions over the next five years it is no surprise the latest Global Wind Workforce Outlook, launching next week, has lots to say about workforce needs. Of course, massive growth is not just the double-digit increase in the demand for wind technicians over the next five years. At a human level it means more jobs, more safety & technical training, and naturally more renewable energy. More details of the win-wins will be revealed on 28 November 2024, in South Korea. Make sure you save the date, register for the webinar on the results and receive your copy of the report on the day.

Published annually, the Global Wind Workforce Outlook #GWWO has proved to be the guide to global workforce and training needs over the rolling, four-year period. While keeping a consistent format, this year includes the first discussion on how AI and automation impacts industry needs for qualified technicians and their training. Also new, are conclusions on the policy and market interventions making a difference around the world and 10 markets taken into focus in our country commentary.

“As the global wind energy sector continues to grow, particularly in new markets, it is crucial that the growing wind workforce is equipped with the right training and tools to meet the increasing demand. Prioritizing health and safety standards must be at the core of this expansion. A skilled, well-trained, and sustainable workforce is essential to turn the world’s wind capacity targets into genuine transformative action that realises the energy transition. GWEC is proud to present the Global Wind Workforce Outlook 2024-2028, in collaboration with the Global Wind Organisation. This report outlines the critical steps needed to build a safe and resilient workforce that can scale at the same pace as the global pipeline of wind energy projects.”

- Ben Backwell, CEO, GWEC

Findings for the #GWWO will be presented by Ralph Savage, Director, Global Development, Global Wind Organisation at the APAC Wind Energy Summit in Incheon, South Korea. The 2024-28 edition will include the usual global forecast numbers as well as a deep dive on 10 key wind markets across the world; both large, and rapidly developing.

In the weeks following the launch of the #GWWO, authors from GWEC and GWO will be hosting three webinars with invited guests from the industry.
