Ventyr won historic first offshore wind auction in Norway

The Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and the Minister of Energy Terje Aasland announced this at a press conference in Oslo today. The contract price is 115 Norwegian øre per kwh. 

Arvid Nesse, leader of Norway’s largest industrial cluster Norwegian Offshore Wind comments:

-Ventyr is an exciting consortium, where Parkwind has solid experience in the development of offshore wind. Parkwind has already shown great interest in mobilizing the Norwegian supply chain, and we are happy to have them as members with us in Norwegian Offshore Wind.

Per today, Norwegian Offshore Wind consists of close to 400 member companies, and both NorSea Group and Parkwind are among them. 

- With NorSea Group as a strong Norwegian partner of Ventyr within ports and infrastructure, we believe that this will be a good solution for the Norwegian supply chain and international partners. With Ingka Investments, they have a solid investor on the team, who has also signaled that they want to take part in the competition to develop the floating wind park Utsira Nord, comments Nesse.

He points out that the past few weeks leading up to the auctions have been exciting.

Having a home market is absolutely essential for Norwegian suppliers to succeed in exports. Norway is not a market leader in bottom-fixed offshore wind, and therefore, Southern North Sea II is a milestone for the industry, he says and adds:

- Now we look forward to also finalizing the arrangements for Utsira Nord, which is a major prestige project for Norway and Norwegian suppliers. Norway is a pioneer in floating technologies. Utsira Nord will be important for us to become world leaders in floating offshore wind.
