Canada - Country's largest wind farm sold to FPL Energy
Owners of Canada's largest wind farm have signed a deal for another wind power project.
It was reported that Creststreet Power of Calgary and Income Fund LP which own Atlantic Canada's largest wind farm had signed a deal to sell Pubnico Point wind farm in Yarmouth County and its Mount Copper wind power project in Quebec to an affiliate of FPL Energy of Florida for $121.6 million.
The report said Creststreet Power said the decision to sell was in part due to the federal government's decision to tax income trusts the same as corporations beginning in 2011.
Meanwhile, Manitoba Hydro has short listed 10 companies wishing to sell up to 300 megawatts of wind power at a cost of more than $600 million, DCN News Service said Sunday.
The report said Manitoba Hydro would start reviewing the feasibility of favored projects but initial discussion would focus on a proposal submitted by Joseph Wind Farms Inc.
Manitoba Hydro has a power purchase agreement with the St. Leon Wind Energy LP to purchase wind power for up to 25 years from Manitoba's first wind farm, near St. Leon, Manitoba.
