Colombian energy company Celsia invests in Peru
Celsia, the energy company of Grupo Argos of Colombia, announces that it has reached an agreement with Grupo Ibereólica Renovables to acquire the 218 MW Caravelí wind project in the Lomas district of Caravelí province - Arequipa, Peru. Celsia plans to begin construction and commissioning of the project by the end of the year.
Caravelí is located in an area where other wind farms are already in operation. "Going to Peru with this project is a very interesting opportunity for Celsia. We have found it to be a country with favourable investment conditions, macroeconomic stability, attractive natural resources for the development of renewable energy projects, remuneration in dollars and additional growth opportunities to expand our business portfolio in the future," said Ricardo Sierra, CEO of Celsia.
The project was developed by the renowned Spanish company Grupo Ibereólica Renovables. Celsia will use equipment and agreements with suppliers already contracted for wind projects in La Guajira, Colombia, whose approval and consultation processes are ongoing. In this way, the company will be able to move forward swiftly with the construction schedule in Peru.
